Dear Marketing: Author Platform Workshop 2020 Participants,

We are so excited to have you in this workshop! New this year, we are running our marketing workshops classroom-style with a 10:1 student-teacher ratio. This setup allows our instructor use of a projector and our attendees a desk-like space to follow along. PLEASE make a note of which session you have signed up for. (First Session: Noon-2:45pm, Second Session: 3:15-6pm.) You will be spending your workshop in a class with one highly qualified instructor and nine fellow attendees. Our instructor has asked that each attendee please read carefully over the requirements for this workshop to ensure its success.

Up to one week prior to the workshop (so the instructor has adequate time to prepare), attendees should email instructor any specific questions or concerns they want addressed during the workshop. (lindzeearmstrong@gmail.com)

WORKSHOP REQUIREMENTS/SUGGESTIONS

Attendees should bring to the workshop, if at all possible:

  1. Laptop with internet access and adequate battery life.
  2. Notebook and pen as a backup.

Attendees should also be prepared to show their fellow attendees, if applicable:

  1. Their book cover image(s)
  2. Their website
  3. Their newsletter
  4. Any promotional materials they have, i.e. bookmarks, business cards, etc.

Digital images of the above are fine–actual physical items are not necessary. If attendees DO choose to bring in a physical item, one is enough, as it is just for reference.

If attendees are not yet published and/or do not yet have some of these items, this is TOTALLY FINE! We will be going over all of it, and it is not necessary to have any of this to do the workshop. The only requirement is a way to take notes/do the exercises.

This workshop will be very interactive, and will draw from a lot of examples (including those from attendees) as things are discussed. The instructor will also do exercises so attendees leave with the work started.

Instructor will email attendees a week before the conference with a link to a worksheet to be filled out during the workshop. This will allow attendees time to print a physical copy, if desired, as opposed to filling it out on their computer.

Being prepared with the above requirements and suggestions will ensure attendees get the most out of this workshop as well as allow the instructor to focus their time on key points.
