Greetings Writers!
It’s down to crunch time and we are so excited! This year’s LDStorymakers Conference is shaping up to be one of the best yet. Keep reading for some updates and useful conference info:
1. The last day to add intensives and pitch sessions to your registration is Saturday, April 1st.
Ever wonder how your first pages would fare in the slush pile? Let our visiting agents and editor tell you! Submit your work for the Simulating the Slush Pile panel, where our guests will review anonymous first pages from conference attendees and share what works, what doesn’t, and why they would choose to read on or stop.
• Polish your first page so it shines!
• On April 21st, email your first page to between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. MDT.
• Attach as a Word document or PDF.
• Only the first page (12 point font, double spaced) will be accepted.
• Include the title of the book as a header. ALSO INCLUDE THE GENRE OF YOUR BOOK in the header. DO NOT include your name.
One submission per attendee.
10 submissions will be chosen, along with 10 alternates if time allows. This is a priceless chance to get your work seen by industry professionals and get honest feedback—plus learn from the other submissions.

GORDON WARNOCK from Fuse Literary can request full manuscripts for any other agents in his office. He’s generously offered up a lot of pitch session slots, which you can add to your registration at any time (until they’re gone).
*For questions about pitch sessions and manuscript critiques, visit the website.
4. Whitney Gala Tickets are still available! It’s the 10th anniversary of these special awards and we encourage you to join us at the Gala to honor excellence in fiction from LDS authors. It’s always a great night! To purchase tickets, just log in to your conference registration and click on the ADD-ON link.
5. Have you checked out the Social Events page? Find details about the socials on Friday night, the dance party on Thursday night, and so much more!
All Thursday Workshop groups have been sorted.
Plot Chat attendees will be given their mentors a couple weeks before the conference, but no materials are due before the conference.
Pub Polish attendees should expect another email within the following week.
First Pages groups will be sent out within two weeks, and all final pages are due to groups and mentors by April 20th.
Magic Systems groups have been emailed. Check your spam folder if you didn’t receive yours.
7. The bookstore is always one of our favorites features of the conference. This year, we’re thrilled to offer books from our faculty members, committee, LDStorymakers board members, and Whitney finalists in the conference store. On Saturday afternoon, after our concluding session, we will have a two hour Book Signing/Sale where you can grab books from your favorite authors and get them signed! Authors whose books are not available in the store can sell and sign their books during the sale. For complete information and policies regarding the bookstore and this Saturday event, please click on the following link:
8. If you have questions about anything conference related, please check the website first. If you can’t find your answer there, our committee emails are all in one place.
Thank you so much! We are so excited for May!
